How to Create a Winter Solstice Ritual

In the midst all of the holiday parties, The Winter Solstice is a celebration you don’t want to miss.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year when the sun reaches a peak in the sky and when darkness turns to light. With the powerful energy that accompanies the rebirthing of our sun, December 21st is considered the single best day to set new intentions.

Solstice literally means “sun stands still” and the best way to spend this holiday is to find stillness yourself.

Take a pause to look within. Schedule this time to honor your inner light, let go of what’s no longer needed and think about your goals and dreams.

Harmonizing with nature will amplify your manifesting powers.

Here are some of our favorite ways to nurture your spirit during the Winter Solstice. We’d suggest for you to pick 3 or more of these ritual practices and combine them to make a beautiful ritual for your evening:

  • Turn off all the lights and lighting candles
  • Cleanse your sacred space with sage, palo santo, or another form of smudge stick
  • Take a bath
  • Listen to soothing music
  • Set up a crystal grid
  • Write in your journal
  • Take a yoga class or practice at home (yoga nidra is perfect for deep relaxation!)
  • Enjoy a nourishing meal
  • Meditate (Use your favorite technique or enjoy this potent light scanning meditation from Danielle Laporte)
